Save as template

Overview

The workflow builder and markup editor give you options to save a workflow as a new template.

A page workflow can be saved as either a space template or a global template
A space workflow can be saved as a global template

At the space and global level, workflows can also be:

Created and saved as a new template
Copied, edited, and saved as a new template

The user must have the appropriate Confluence administrator permission to save the workflow template.

Saving a page workflow

In workflow builder, a page workflow can be saved as either a space workflow or a global workflow.

In page mode, saving a workflow template requires you to have at least space administrator permission.

Save a page workflow as a new space workflow template

In the navigation panel in workflow builder, choose the down arrow (next to Save).

The option to Save as space template is only displayed for a user with space administrator permission.

Add or amend the name for your new space workflow template and choose Save.

The new template is saved to the space tools document management dashboard.

The template can be edited further in the space using the workflow builder. It can also be copied and edited using the workflow builder, accessed using the Edit option in the three-dot menu for a workflow in the space document management dashboard

Save a page workflow as a new global template

The option to Save as a global template is only displayed for a user with global administrator permission

The global administrator password is also required.

In the navigation panel in workflow builder, choose the down arrow (next to Save).

Add or amend the name for your new global workflow template and choose Save.

The new template is saved to the global workflows dashboard.

The template can be edited further as a global template using the workflow builder. It can also be copied and edited using the workflow builder, which is accessed using the Edit option in the three-dot menu for a workflow in the global workflows dashboard.

Saving a space workflow

In workflow builder, a space workflow can be saved as a global workflow.

Saving a workflow as a global template requires you to have global administrator permission.

Save as a new global template

In the navigation panel in the workflow builder, choose the down arrow (next to Save).

If required, a space administrator can simply use the space dashboard ellipsis menu option for an existing space workflow to create a copy and edit the copy to create a new space template.
