App access rule support

Our cloud app now supports the Atlassian data security app access rule, which allows Jira Administrators to limit what third-party apps can access. This enhances data security by ensuring that only authorized apps can interact with sensitive content.

What happens if the app is blocked?

If your Jira administrator has blocklisted Clone Plus for Jira using the app access rule, the app will not function as expected and you will also see warning messages that the app is blocked.

If you want to continue to use the app, contact your Jira administrator to remove the app from the blocklist. For more details, refer to the Block app access Atlassian page.

What happens if you clone issues from the blocked projects?

If you intend to clone the issues from the blocked projects, the issues from the blocked projects will not be available for cloning and you will see warning messages in the app.

If you want to clone issues from the blocked projects, contact your Jira administrator. For more details, refer to the Data security policy Atlassian page.

What happens if you clone issues to the blocked projects?

If you intend to clone the issues to the blocked projects, you cannot clone issues to the blocked projects and you will see warning messages in the app.

If you want to clone issues to the blocked projects, contact your Jira administrator. For more details, refer to the Data security policy Atlassian page.

For more details, refer to the App access rule page.

Enhancements

Ability to clone components and versions for all users

The app has been improved to provide the ability to clone components and versions for all users, who do not have the Administer Projects project permission to the target project.

Also, if you have the Administer projects project permission, you can create the versions and components if not available in the target project.

  • If you have the Administer projects project permission for the target project, you can create the versions and components if not available in the target project by selecting the checkboxes shown in the image below:

  • If you do not have the Administer projects project permission, you can clone versions and components only if they exist in the target project.

  • For more details on the team-managed project permission, refer to the Team-managed project permissions Atlassian page.

  • For more details on the company-managed project permission, refer to the Managing project permissions Atlassain page.

  • The team-managed projects do not have the components. Thus, it is not possible to clone components in the team-managed projects.

  • If either the version or component field has a missing value in the target project, both the version and component will not be cloned. This case is a known issue and will be fixed in the upcoming releases..

Support for the deprecation of JQL search and evaluate expression endpoints

Clone Plus for Jira now supports the deprecation of JQL search and evaluate expression endpoints done by Atlassian. For more details, refer to the 31 October 2024 changelog on the Atlassian developer changelog.

Bug fixes

The following bugs are fixed in this release:

  • When you clone an issue, the comments and links can now be cloned even if the issue watcher is a user who has restricted access to the target project.

  • On the Clone Plus for Jira page, all the target projects are now displayed in the Project drop-down list, and the app access rule is applied only after you select a target project.

  • For some users, an error message appeared when cloning an issue, You need “Create Issue” permission from your Jira admin to clone this issue. This issue is now fixed, and an error message is no longer displayed.
