Dependencies and requirements

Power Custom Fields requires three components to function: the main app, SIL Engine, and Power Apps License Manager.

When you install any Power Suite app, both SIL Engine and Power Apps License Manager are installed automatically.

SIL Engine includes a library (katl-commons) with utility functions and the Simple Issue Language (SIL) parser. It is shared across the Power Suite portfolio products and must remain enabled for SIL-based functionality to work.
If you already have SIL Engine installed, do not uninstall it manually before installing Power Custom Fields. Instead, check its version and update it if needed. The latest SIL Engine version and updates are available on the Atlassian Marketplace.

To prevent JavaScript errors after upgrading from a previous version, clear your browser cache once the installation is complete.

Install from the Atlassian Marketplace

Prerequisites

Your Jira administration console must be connected to the Atlassian Marketplace website for direct app installation.

Procedure

Log in to Jira as an administrator.
Click Administration () and select Manage apps.
In the search field, enter Power Custom Fields.
Click Install.

Install by file upload

Download the Power Custom Fields file from the Atlassian Marketplace.
Log in to Jira as an administrator.
Click Addministration () and select Manage apps.
In the Atlassian Marketplace section of the left-side menu, click Manage apps.
Click Upload app, select the file you downloaded, and click Upload.

Enable logging for Power Suite modules

Enabling logging for Power Suite apps can be helpful when troubleshooting issues.

In a text editor, open the Jira configuration file JIRA_INSTALL_DIR/atlassian-jira/WEB-INF/classes/log4j.properties.
Add the following lines at the end of the file:
log4j.logger.com.keplerrominfo=INFO, filelog
log4j.additivity.com.keplerrominfo=false
Restart your Jira instance.

Troubleshooting your Power Custom Fields installation

I have installed an incompatible version. What should I do?

Uninstall the Power Custom Fields app.

When uninstalling Power Custom Fields, be aware that SIL Engine and Power Apps License Manager are shared dependencies with other apps like Power Scripts and Power Database Fields. If you uninstall these dependencies along with Power Custom Fields, all apps that rely on them will be automatically disabled. For detailed instructions, see Uninstall Power Custom Fields.

Uninstall SIL Engine and Power Apps License Manager.
Install the version of Power Custom Fields that is compatible with your Jira version.
1. If you are installing by file upload, ensure you use the proper OBR file you downloaded.
2. If you are installing directly from the Atlassian Marketplace, use the Universal Plugin Manager by navigating to Manage apps > Find new apps.

The proper version of SIL Engine is also installed with the Power Custom Fields app. If you have other SIL Engine-dependent apps, such as Power Scripts for Jira or Power Actions for Jira, you must manually re-enable them. See the Disabling and enabling apps page for instructions.
