[DC] Close a key result

This page is about OKR for Jira Data Center. Using Cloud? Click here.

If you've completed work on a key result or need to pause or stop it for any reason, you can close it before the OKR period ends.

Closed key results will still contribute to the progress of their parent objective, but they’ll be less visible in the main view, and you won’t be able to update them unless you reopen them later.

How to close a key result

  1. Open the key result page.

  2. Click the three-dots menu in the top-right corner and select Close.

  3. Choose the final status. Available options are:

The final status options for the key result.
    • Success

    • Incomplete

    • Failed

    • Cancelled

    • Rescheduled

  4. Add a short note explaining why you're closing the key result. This helps your team understand the context behind the decision.

  5. Grade the key result. Use a scale from 0 to 1 to reflect how much progress was made. A suggested grade will be provided based on the progress value, but you can adjust it according to your own evaluation criteria:

The grade for the key result.
    • 0 – No progress

    • 0.3-0.5 – Some progress

    • 0.6-0.9 – Almost reached the target

    • 1 – Goal fully achieved

  6. Click Close key result to confirm.
