Task types
BigPicture uses several different task types, not only Jira issues or other work items coming from external platforms. Although all of them are collectively termed as “tasks,” each task type is designed for different purposes:

Task attributes
Task attributes are essential properties that define, categorize, and manage tasks across timelines, teams, and objectives. The available attributes depend on the task type.
Task data synchronization (between external platforms and BigPicture)
For tasks to display various data correctly, including names and start/end dates, their data fields must be properly mapped with BigPicture.
Task management
Apart from basic actions you can carry out on tasks, such as creating and deleting, there are other actions that are meant to help you manage your tasks more efficiently.
Task change history
You can track the changes in your tasks in the Gantt module’s Infobar panel. The history of changes shows the following data:
The date of the change
The reason for a change (for example, the task was moved)
The author of the change
Organization of tasks
You can irreversibly organize tasks in the Gantt and Scope modules by the columns present in your current column view.
Task in scope of multiple boxes
The same task can be in the scope of more than one box. BigPicture offers several ways to help you determine when a task belongs to the scope of a box other than a current one.
Task data synchronization (with timeboxes)
Tasks can be synchronized with a specific data field to ensure they are automatically assigned to their respective timeboxes.
Task structure
Task structure is the way the task hierarchy is organized. In BigPicture, you can build a structure for your tasks manually or automatically based on one of the pre-defined structure templates. It is also possible to have a mix of manual and automatic structures.
