Content byline item

Content byline item

Overview

When a workflow is added to a page or blog post, the workflow content byline item is added below the page or blog post heading.

The name of the current workflow state is shown next to a colored status indicator circle.

Choosing the status indicator circle and state name breadcrumbs will open the workflow state dialog box. The content byline item changes to show the current workflow status and details for the current state.

For example, here are 3 states in the Simple Approval Workflow:

  • Initial workflow state

  • Includes a content review

  • Destination state after rejected decision in the Review state

  • Includes a content review

  • Final approved state

  • No user or content review. Includes a workflow transition to change state when document is edited

When in a draft state (either Review or Rejected), if there is also a previously approved version of the content, the content byline item includes a link to the version created on the last transition to the Approved state.

By deafult, a user with view-only permission for a page with an applied workflow cannot see the workflow state content byline. When viewing the page, view-only users see the last approved version, even if there is a later draft version in progress.

In the final published Approved state, if there is a later draft version in progress, the content byline includes a link to the current version in the draft state.

If the state in the workflow has a content review, any user assigned to the content review viewing the page sees the status indicator as a filled circle.
