Create a system configuration snapshot

A system configuration snapshot focuses only on the configuration aspects of your Jira instance. It includes all projects, workflows, custom fields, settings, etc., but it doesn’t include any issue data.

With a system snapshot, you can merge the configuration of one Jira instance with another or promote configuration changes from testing to production instances.

To create a new system configuration snapshot:

  1. Log in as a user with the System Administrators global permission.

  2. Choose the cog icon at the top right of the screen, then choose Configuration Manager:

  3. Select Snapshots to open the Configuration Snapshots page and click on the Add Snapshot button.

  4. Select the System Configuration button and enter a name for the snapshot. Optionally enter a description.

If a snapshot with that name already exists, a warning will be shown.

5. You can choose to include all filters, boards, dashboards, global app data, and automation rules
in the snapshot.

  1. If you want to see a preview of the snapshot, click Next (since CMJ 3.0). Otherwise, choose Create.

  2. After clicking the Create button, wait while Configuration Manager creates a snapshot of your Jira instance.

A message will be displayed confirming that Configuration Manager for Jira has successfully created the snapshot. You will find any warnings that you may want to review in CMJ's Audit log.
