Overview

A source space for publishing is configured in the publishing app space settings in the source space.

The app space settings are accessed by choosing Space Settings>App links>Comala Publishing.

The Configure Publishing button opens the space publishing configuration setup tool to add a target space to publish your pages to.

The Configure Publishing button is only displayed if no target space has been added to the publishing app space settings.

Once a target space is configured for a space, publishing is enabled for the space by default.

note

When adding a target space, the Enable Publishing, Copy content properties, Enable single-page publishing options, and the option to Space Publish are all displayed and enabled by default.

Target space

Select the target space where the source pages are published and synced. Use the dropdown menu to select a target space and choose Change. Only spaces where the current user has space administrator permission are displayed as options in the menu.

note

A target space must be added to allow access to the publishing dashboard settings.

When changing the target space, if a space administrator lacks the necessary permissions in that target space, the source space dashboard options are disabled, and a message appears indicating insufficient permissions

If the space administrator attempts to change from an existing target space, refreshing the dashboard page returns the app space settings to the existing target space configuration.

User permissions for publishing

cpc_userpermissionsforpublishing_dropdownmenu_options.png

You can choose the user permissions in the target space that are used for publishing:

By default, for a new space publishing configuration, the Comala Publishing for Confluence Cloud app add-on user permissions in the target space are used for publishing actions.

When publishing is configured to use the app add-on user, only the app add-on user requires edit permission in the target space. There is no need for a Confluence user who publishes content (a page editor or a space administrator) to have edit permissions in the target space. Removing user edit permissions in the target space can support compliance with published documents.

Single-page publishing

You can enable or prevent a page editor from publishing an individual page using the Publish option in the publishing popup on a page in the source space.

If single-page publishing is disabled in a space

By default, this is enabled.

Make this option inactive if you want to limit the publishing of pages for each space using the space settings Publishing dashboard. You might also choose to make single-page publishing inactive if a Comala workflow is being used to publish pages.

Copy content properties

When publishing a page, the space administrator can enable or prevent the copying of content properties.

By default, this is enabled.

Disable this option if you are using an app in the target space that will be impacted by copying the page properties from the source space page. For example, this can be disabled if a Comala workflow is applied in the target space.

Only publish pages if they are in the final state of the workflow

cpc_publishingdasboard_extract_publish-wf_final_state_inactive.png

When publishing all the pages in a space using space publishing, you can enable this setting to only publish the pages in the final state of an applied Comala workflow.

Pages not in the final state of the workflow are ignored for publishing.cpc_ellipsismenu_clearpublishingconfiguration.png

When a target space is configured in the source space, the target space app space settings displays a message confirming the target space as a published space and details of the source space.
